Annie buy your gun!

February 1st, 2011 No comments

From the Argus Leader:

Bill would require all S.D. citizens to buy a gun

Five South Dakota lawmakers have introduced legislation that would require any adult 21 or older to buy a firearm “sufficient to provide for their ordinary self-defense.”

The bill, which would take effect Jan. 1, 2012, would give people six months to acquire a firearm after turning 21. The provision does not apply to people who are barred from owning a firearm.

Nor does the measure specify what type of firearm. Instead, residents would pick one “suitable to their temperament, physical capacity, and preference.”

The measure is known as an act “to provide for an individual mandate to adult citizens to provide for the self defense of themselves and others.”

Rep. Hal Wick, R-Sioux Falls, is sponsoring the bill and knows it will be killed. But he said he is introducing it to prove a point that the federal health care reform mandate passed last year is unconstitutional.

“Do I or the other cosponsors believe that the State of South Dakota can require citizens to buy firearms? Of course not. But at the same time, we do not believe the federal government can order every citizen to buy health insurance,” he said.

Never argue with a fool…

March 23rd, 2010 No comments

So i’m on Buzz on my phone, which is like a cross between Twitter and Facebook (without the annoying friend status notifications about their Farms and Mafias), and it picks up chatter traffic from others on Buzz nearby, based on my GPS information.

I swear, I would have had a brain aneurism if I just kept going in the endless circle that it did.
Finally, I just gave up, only to have him actually admit the truth right after.  *rolls eyes*

*queue the Dragnet theme*

“Ladies and gentlemen: the story you are about to hear is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the idiotic...”

Has Rush Limbaugh moved yet?? This republican wants to know if he keeps his word.

Smite A. Hippie - Uhh yeah, he said he’d go there for healthcare, not move there. Might wanna actually read a source, instead of sounding like a mind-numb idiot echoing the the same repetitive line out of the media. 1:04 am

Smite A. Hippie - Oh yeah, and you being a Republican is about as likely as Michael Moore turning down a Twinkie. heh. 1:08 am

Smite A. Hippie - He also did that intentionally, saying that for a sound-bite to tweak the media with, to see if it would be twisted and echoed as you did. Congrats on falling for that… “here’s your sign.” 1:18 am

Timmy Brokenrecordhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/09/limbaugh-ill-leave-us-if_n_491536.html – “If this passes and its 5 years from now and all that stuff gets implemented, I’ll leave the country”. Hey Smite, don’t be a jerk, its not funny, quit it. 10:53 am

Smite A. Hippie - again, I said get it from the source, not a repetitive broken record of a partial sound-bite from the media (or a fring blog site like the huffinton-puffington post).

that’s not what he said. 10:57 am

Smite A. Hippiehttp://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_030810/content/01125111.guest.html 10:59 am

Timmy Brokenrecord - I just quoted what he said verbatim, and read the post Smite, I’m not Johnny, I never claimed to be a republican. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsyQ648uAIE 10:59 am

Smite A. Hippie - and i heard it live, READ the link from the SOURCE. again.. you posted something from a 3rd party yet again… *smacks head*

(and yes, I saw that you weren’t him and changed that comment) 11:05 am

Smite A. Hippie - he explicitly states, he’s going to costa rica for healthcare, doesn’t say he’s MOVING there, even on the link you provided. 11:07 am

Smite A. Hippie - and seriously, when you send a link to something that looks like they’re trying to be a news show (theyoungturks), yet starts into libelous rumors of drugs and sex and other jokes of character toward the end… you (and that source) have completely lost all credibility there… why even bother. 11:12 am

Johnny Parrotman - Holy crap. Rush is the sorriest excuse for a Republican that ever lived. Perhaps he didn’t say he was going to move. But I, for one, would like to help him pack his bags and get back to the Republican roots the party was founded on and get away from Rush’s imperialistic tendencies. Compare Rush to Lincoln and you’ll see where Republicans went wrong. It’s a sad decade for our party. 11:29 am

Timmy Brokenrecord - Seriously, man, both sources are playing recorded audio from Limbaugh’s show. What does it really matter who is playing the clip. Sorry, if Internet media doesn’t live up to your expectations. Yes, he states he’d move to Costa Rica in the clip and then later he goes on and says if it passes and it is implemented he is leaving this country period, the caller goes into something about Cuba blah blah blah. Here is the deal, don’t be a dick, all this stuff about Johnny being dumb or falling for some bait, its ridiculous. I don’t know you, I do know him and the one thing he is not is unintelligent. So take your sign, and seriously move on. 11:34 am

Smite A. Hippie - Timmy… he DOESN’T say he’d MOVE there… even in the audio clip.. take the wax out of your ears and listen to it again. 11:49 am

Smite A. Hippie - and yes, I do question his intelligence, when he’s spouting off about imperialistic tendencies and whatnot. How about citing a source on that one??

I agree the Republican party has lost it’s way in recent history, far from the ideals of Lincoln – but Rush is a Conservative, not a Republican, and Conservatism is the ideals Lincoln founded the party on. Apparently he’s living in another world, confusing imperialistic tendencies from big-government liberals, with conservatives. 11:55 am

Timmy Brokenrecord - Oh, wow fine, he says he would go there for healthcare, than later he says he’d leave the country if this passed and was implemented. 11:55 am

Smite A. Hippie - Timmy Timmy Timmy… he doesn’t say he’d move there… i don’t know how to explain it any other way, beyond telling you to listen to the full clip, or read the transcript I posted.

There’s really no point in going back and forth in a circle on, as the old adage goes “Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference”… if you can’t listen/read (from the actual source), then there’s no hope…we’re done here… 12:04 pm

Johnny Parrotman - A true conservative would want to close all the foreign military bases, gtfo Iraq, and seriously downsize the military. Did you know the Republicans filibustered when we triedto join NATO. Rush is a neocon. Real conservatives want nothing to do with him. He’s a Reagan era leftover that somehow thinks he speaks for conservatives. And Dush did not say he would move to Costa Rica, but he did say he would leave. GTFO, I say. 12:15 pm

Timmy Brokenrecord - you are right we are done here. 12:15 pm

Smite A. Hippie - see Timmy, even Johnny acknowledges it. 12:19 pm

Timmy Brokenrecord - yes yes, he didn’t say move to Costa Rica, he just said he’d leave the country, personally, I’m fine with either scenario. 12:25 pm

Oppose health care bill? RACIST!!

December 21st, 2009 No comments

You right-wing aryan militia group member! Who do you think you are?! How dare you express dissent in your leaders!

What, do you think you live in a representative-republic, with with constitutional rights to free speech or something?  Psshh!

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, DEMOCRAT-Rhode Island: foes of health care bill are birthers, right-wing militias, aryan groups.

Anyone else find the irony in Senator Whitehouse’s name, funny? :)

You know it’s funny, when a Republican is in office, dissent is patriotic.  When a Democrat is in office, it’s racist to oppose them.  Hypocrisy, thy middle name is Liberalism!

Ahh you crazy kids…

This is so idiotic, I’m just speechless…

This is the face of liberalism.. and I seriously weep for the future…

Random Obvservation: Government vs Free Enterprise

December 20th, 2009 No comments

Random observation/thought: here’s a great example of free enterprise vs government run: I just heard that schools will be closing tomorrow, even though they’ve had all day today without snowfall to get plowing done.  The Eagles game played on this afternoon, and the airport (hit with 2 feet of snow) had planes running today.

Government doesn’t need to make a profit, there is no direct goal for it to strive.  On the other hand, no money is made with a closed football field, or planes just on the ground; capitalism won that round.

Keep that in mind, as Democrats continue to try and get government run health-care through the system.  If there is no competition, no motivation to stand out, to achieve success.  Do you think it’s going to be cheaper for you? Do you think it’s going to be more efficient? Will we see the same level of scientific innovation? Will it be a better experience overall?  The answer, is no…
