Town Bans Bottled Water Sales

“We only have one planet and I just don’t want to see it spoiled,” said Jean Hill, who introduced the measure at Concord’s Town Meeting.

Now, you’d actually at first think it was the added plastic being tossed into trashcans or recycling bins that has Jean Hill’s panties in a twist, but it’s actually the issue of how much oil is used to create these plastic bottles.

Yes, that’s right… every time you buy bottled water, you’re lining the fat-cat pockets of Big Oil and Big Beverage, and worst of all you’re killing the planet and funding terror around the world. You evil bastard, have you no conscience! Get a Brita filter, already! Think of the children! heh.

The ban on plastic water bottle sales may be largely symbolic. Town officials aren’t sure they have the power to enact the ban without approval from the state.

So in the mean time, Concord will probably just start handing out fake-tickets, like those idiots that leave them on gas-guzzling car’s windshields in the parking lot.

“Water is something we can get from the faucet. You can’t turn your faucet on and get soda,” said Selectwoman Virginia McIntyre

Now while I do share this sentiment, I’m also a freedom-loving American that doesn’t agree with imposing my view on everyone else in the form of some idiotic government regulation.

It’s funny isn’t it? Under our new regime, the Federal government has mandated that I buy something, and this little municipality is trying to mandate that you can’t buy something.

When your friends can’t explain why they voted for Democrats, give them this list. They can then pick their reasons from this “Top 10″.

10. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon
of gas at 15% or more isn’t.

in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.

5. I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies through abortion so long as we keep all death row

4. I voted democratic because I think illegal aliens have a free right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

3. I voted democratic because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give
the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never
get their agendas past the voters.

KBR wins contract for work in Iraq

KBR has received its first contract for logistics services in Iraq under a new competitive bidding structure that ended its sole-source work, the Army said Tuesday.

Houston-based KBR won a one-year $571 million contract with four option years that, if exercised, could be as high as $2.8 billion, Army spokesman Dan Carlson said.

The contract calls for KBR to provide services including transportation and postal operations, he said in a statement.

KBR (Kellogg Brown & Root) is the former subsidiary of that eeeevil Halliburton, and is the company that was awarded those huge contracts during start of the 2003 Iraq offensives.  They’ve been around for some time, though. They also received contracts during WWII, Vietnam, post-Desert Storm, and I remember them being there with me in Kosovo too… but it was only under President Bush’s terms, there was outcry.

They’re the only company with the experience and man-power big enough to pull off the logistics that are requested by Uncle Sam, but when a Republican is in office, the libs cry-fowl – “Cheney!” “No bid contract!” “Evil big corporation!”

Will there by outcry this time?  Probably not. There wasn’t any under Johnson, or Clinton.. and what Party is Obama with? oh yes, that’s right…

How much does it cost us to fly Pelosi home on her Air Force party jet? $28,201 each way. In the last two years, she’s billed taxpayers over $2.1 million in travel expenses for her and her family, and over $100k was for inflight food and alcohol. No wonder she’s a fan of public transportation.

TABOR CITY, N.C.  — A sheriff says a North Carolina state senator shot one of two intruders at his home and hospital officials say the man is in fair condition.

Multiple media outlets reported that Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten said that 74-year-old Sen. R.C. Soles of Tabor City shot Kyle Blackburn late Sunday afternoon.

A spokeswoman at Loris Community Hospital in South Carolina said Monday that Blackburn was in fair condition.

Batten says the shooting occurred when two men went to the senator’s house and tried to kick in his front door. No charges have been filed.

The sheriff’s office said the State Bureau of Investigation was handling the case. A call to an agency spokeswoman was not immediately returned. There was no answer at a number listed for Soles’ home.

The Democrat has been in the Senate 32 years.

The victim, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen and Brunswick counties…

The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested, declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening.

“I am not in a position to talk to you,” Soles said by telephone. “I’m right in the middle of an investigation.”

The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn’t hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim.

In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the “Do As I Say And Not As I Do” Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting. Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.

It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.
But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

Not that anyone even watches MSNBC, I certainly didn’t see it, just saw the video clip on Youtube later from another source.  I didn’t even know who the guy was until I saw a name in the keyword tags of the video, so I’m actually propping up this unknown asshat I guess.
